About The Urban Network |
HOW WE GOT STARTEDOriginally formed in 1990, The Urban Network is a coalition of ten of the largest and most-respected African-American professional organizations in the New York tri-state area. Collectively, we represent over 2,500 professionals, executives and business owners from various disciplines and industries ranging from law and architecture to engineering and marketing. The Urban Network was formed to provide a unifying body through which member organizations can work in partnership toward achieving common objectives: professional and business development, community service and personal empowerment in the Black community. In 1998, we expanded our outreach initiatives to include an annual career day to help expose high school and college students to a wide range of career and educational options. MISSIONThe mission of the Urban Network is to provide a unifying body through which member organizations can work in partnership toward achieving our common objectives: professional and business development, community service and personal empowerment in the Black community.
